Round 9 Results

Concluded on November, 27th, Round 9 put on offer 271 exploratory blocks, distributed within 14 sectors, totalling an area of 73 thousand km2. These numbers reflect the withdrawal of 41 blocks determined by CNPE´s Resolution 06/2007. The following basins were included: Campos, Espírito Santo, Pará-Maranhão, Parnaíba, Pernambuco-Paraíba, Potiguar, Santos, Recôncavo and Rio do Peixe.
From the original lot of 67 companies qualified (32 Brazilian and 35 of foreign origin), 42 offered bids individually or in partnerships. 117 blocks were allocated to 24 winning operator companies. Other 12 enterprises won acreage as non-operator participants of joint bids.
A record total of R$ 2,1 billion was offered as signature bonuses along with 169.436 units of the so called minimum exploratory programs. These units may be converted to an estimated R$ 1,4 billion.
