Data Package

Data Package Content

Data packages contain not only specific technical information, such as seismic section profiles, wells´ composite logs and pertaining information, magnetometric and gravimetric data whenever available, but also geological summaries describing each basin´s features, describing their potential for exploration.

The packages also include:

» "Paraná Basin - Oil Study" made by Geochemical Solutions International Brasil Ltda;

» "Amazonas and Solimões Basins - Oil Study" made by Geochemical Solutions International Brasil Ltda;

» Processed magnetometric and gravimetric data surveys of Amazonas Basin, research made as an agreement between ANP and USP;

» For Parecis Basin, geochemistry surveys (made by HRT Petroleum) will be also available.

Furthermore, there will be an extra package for the Amazonas Basin containing reprocessed seismic lines (Stratageo reprocessing).

There is also a package with reprocessed seismic lines for Recôncavo and Sergipe-Alagoas Basins.

Five data packages contain all the eight sectors of the round. Click at the links below to get information on seismic lines and wells available for the offered sectors.

Data Package Structure

1. CD ROM Content - General Information

This CD ROM is divided into 3 sections and contains general information about Data Package Content, Geological Summaries and Environmental Guidelines.

Data Package Information
The section "Data Package Information" contains a text with details about the Data Package content. There is information on how the data was retrieved, handled, formatted and finally recorded in its current format.

The section "Geological Summaries" includes the geological summaries, exploration history and information on the location and petroleum system of all the basins and sectors included in this Round. The geological summary is available in both English and Portuguese. Gravimetric and magnetometric maps, geological mapsstratigraphic charts, structural framework and geological cross-sections of the basin are also available.

The section "Environmental Guidelines" brings information on environmental licensing, procedures, legislation and technical description of local fauna and flora.

2. Media Content – Well Data

For the mature basins a well selection was made using the following criteria:

» Wells with hydrocarbons (HC) (included from oilfield discovery well to dry well with oil trace). A distribution with at least one well per block was selected. In this criterion no wells located in oilfields or development areas were selected.

» Wells with seismic reference (time x depth table).

» Dry wells without HC. In blocks where none of the above criteria were matched, preference was given to deeper wells.

» Wells located in producing oilfields or those under development. Preference was given to wells classified as oilfield discovery wells.

There are five types of well data:
» General Well File (Arquivo Geral de Poços - AGP, in Portuguese);
» Composite Logs;
» Geochemistry data;
» Well files;
» Well log curves.

Data Package Information
The characteristics of each type of well data are described below. In general, none of the existing databases are complete. Although the AGP and the Well Files are complementary in many aspects, data absent in one may frequently be found in the other.

2.1. General Well File

The General Well File (Arquivo Geral de Poços - AGP) is a digital database. It comprises, among other data, coordinates, lithostratigraphy and chronostratigraphy, log headers, time x depth tables, formation test results and interpreted lithologies for each sampled depth in the well. All this information has different origins, and can include the well files. The degree of updating is quite diverse According to the period or the region and the AGP is not available for most of the recently drilled wells.

Data Package Information
The AGP was retrieved in ASCII format, then formatted to fit standard page   sizes and converted to PDF. The AGPs are located in the directory “AGP_General Well files”.

2.2. Composite Logs

The composite logs generated for each well include the interpreted lithology, hydrocarbon shows, lithostratigraphy and chronostratigraphy. A set of curves was selected, including Caliper, GR, DT, SP, RHOB, TTI and a resistivity curve, where these curves existed in the database.

The composite logs were created in PDF format files and indexed by the well names.

For the wells drilled recently, the composite logs were scanned from paper copies provided by the operators.

The composite logs were created in PDF format files and included in the directory “Perfil Composto_Composite logs”.

2.3. Well Files

The well files contain public reports relative to a specific well. This includes the geological analysis of the cuttings description (carried out on site), drilling and engineering reports. It also includes diverse laboratory analysis, such as tests on cores and cuttings, fluids sampling, production tests and other reports generated during or after the drilling of the well. Just as in other databases, these files are not always complete.

The majority of these reports are available in Portuguese only, many documents being handwritten.

The well files are included in the directory “Pastas de poço_well files”.

The well files were originally only available in paper or microfiche format. They were rasterized, and each document page was converted to a TIF or JPG image.

3. Media Content - Seismic Data

Post-stack data has specially been made available.

The seismic data selection followed the criteria below:

» All processed 2D and 3D lines digitally-stored on ANP’s Database for the onshore sectors, were included;
The seismic data was exported in standard SEG-Y format.
